Dr. Prashant S. Bokare is a distinguished academic and researcher with over
34 years of experience. He currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Gondwana University,
Gadchiroli. Previously, he has held prestigious roles as Professor and Dean at OP Jindal
University, Punjipathra, Raigarh, and Chhattisgarh, and has served as Principal and
Professor at
several other renowned institutions.
He completed his Ph.D. in Traffic Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, which has been instrumental in his research on traffic simulation and data analysis. His educational background also includes a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, and an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra. Additionally, he has pursued advanced studies in data analytics and machine learning from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur.
Dr. Bokare has made substantial contributions to traffic simulation, data analysis using R and Python, and machine learning. His expertise includes probability and statistics, data mining, deep learning, and more. His leadership experience encompasses 5 years as a principal, 3 years as a dean, and 14 years as a professor, reflecting his deep commitment to academic excellence and institutional leadership.
His professional career features several notable roles:
Beyond his academic and administrative roles, Dr. Bokare is actively involved in promoting traditional industries in Chhattisgarh, such as KASA utensils, KOSA textiles, and terracotta pottery. He established a Center of Excellence for Traditional Knowledge, Technology, and Culture at OP Jindal University to support rural craftsmen and enhance these industries through sustainable and innovative technology.
His vision for Gondwana University includes transforming it into a center for rural and tribal technology, incorporating eco-tourism into the curriculum, and developing sports and part-time educational programs for rural women. His work in national education policy and women's empowerment further underscores his commitment to societal advancement and academic leadership.
In addition to his leadership and academic roles, Dr. Bokare has published 32 research papers, conducted webinars on national education policy, and applied for patents. His research continues to impact civil engineering, data science, and traditional industry technology.
